What IS That Smell?

Do you smell popcorn Sunday mornings? YES, you do! Our Popcorn Ministry is up and running, actually it’s up and overflowing!

As each elementary kiddo leaves their KIDS Worship time (11:00 – 12:00) they are invited to take a bag of freshly popped popcorn with them from our awesome volunteers in the upper atrium. Why do we do this? We want each child to become fully acquainted with this smell of freshly popped popcorn at CCC where we purposefully practice Food for the Soul (awesome Bible teaching), and Food for the Body, the yummy popcorn! It might one day bring them back to church as a teen or an adult as they recognize that same yummy smell of popcorn at the movie theatre.

To be a part of this fun and delicious ministry, or other great opportunities in KIDS Ministry, please contact Angie Hand - angie.hand@centralcommunity.org.

COMPUTER CHECK-IN

Because we get to teach God's Amazing Word to your children, and because we have amazing, committed volunteers in the classrooms to help your children learn God's Word, our computers are open for check in during these times:

1st Worship Hour: 9:15 - 9:45 a.m.
2nd Worship Hour: 10:45 - 11:15 a.m.

For your child to enjoy all of our wonderful child programming, please plan to arrive during these times of operation. If you arrive after the computers have closed, we ask that you enjoy the worship service with your children.

REMINDER: to allow children to participate in all aspects of their classroom's programming and eliminate disruptions, the KIDS Ministries classrooms will close 15 minutes after each service begins.

UNDER THE CANOPY

Under the Canopy is a place where our children are welcome! As they enter Under the Canopy, they can touch, feel, and look for all sorts of trees, wild animals and insects, flowers, and other surprises. Small children can even sit in a rock as they wait for their parents, becoming a part of the canopy itself. Isaiah 4:5-6 is the inspiration behind this creation. As God protected the Israelites from daytime heat and storms as they travelled through the desert, He protects us now. Under the Canopy is a safe place for our preschoolers to come play, see, and experience God!

Beatitudes for Children’s Workers

Blessed are they who love children with all their heart, for they shall be rewarded with big smiles.

Blessed are they who have planned and prepared, for the children will be interested and pay attention.

Blessed are they that arrive early, for they shall be able to welcome the children and have time to talk to them rather than rushing to get things in place.

Blessed are they that get to know the children, the children’s parents, and the children’s home situation; for they shall be able to minister more effectively.

Blessed are they who respect each child’s personality and seek to meet that child on his or her own level of understanding, for young lives shall reap benefits from these efforts in years to come.

Blessed are they who bear witness to children week after week, for they shall see boys and girls grow in knowledge and love of God.

Blessed are they who spend time alone with God each day, for they shall grow spiritually and the Lord will use them as His instruments.

Got this off another children's pastor's blog. Awesome!

Volunteer Training - November 9

Sunday, November 9

The request has been heard! Here's the recipe for the simple
Sausage & Corn Chowder:
1 lb. fully cooked smoked sausage, sliced & quartered
1 medium onion, chopped
celery, thinly sliced
olive oil
potato, cubed
(I semi-cook potato in the microwave first)
1 - 15.25 oz. can whole kernel corn, drained
1 - 14.75 oz. can cream-style corn
1 - 12 oz. can evaporated milk
1 can of water
salt & pepper
(I like lots of pepper)
1 tsp. dried basil
In soup kettle, saute the onion and celery in the oil until soft.
Add all the other ingredients.
Cook until hot - about 20-30 minutes.
I also like to add garlic to the onion & celery saute, and
one can of sliced mushrooms to the pot.

What to Expect Here at CCC Sunday Morning!

Where and when do we check our children in?
Checking your children into CCC's kids programming is quick, easy, and painless. Just walk up to any check-in station and our friendly volunteers will help you check your children into the nursery, early childhood hallway, or elementary classrooms (up through 4th grade). All your children may be checked in at the same computer terminal. However, check-in closes 15 minutes after each service begins. This is to minimize distractions during our CCC Kid's programming, and to give your child the focused, undivided attention they deserve!

Check-in Station Times of Operation:
9:15 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. / 10:45 - 11:15 a.m.

New families can check in at the "New Family Child Check-in" station located in the Atrium.

What ages can attend CCC Kids?
CCC Kids is for children from birth thru 4th grade. Caterpillars classroom is for our infants; Butterflies classroom are for those children who are walking up to 2 years olds. "Under the Canopy" is for ages 2 thru Pre-K (Fireflies = 2's in diapers; Ladybugs = potty-trained 2's; Bumblebees = 3 year olds; Grasshoppers = 4 year olds; Pre-K = those starting kinder in the fall). Elevate is for Kindergarten-4th graders.

What curriculum is used in the CCC Kids classes?
The curriculum used in our preschool classes (ages 2-PreK) is called My First Look (To find out more about My First Look, click here.). It teaches 3 basic ideas: God made me, God loves me, and Jesus wants to be my friend forever. In Elevate, we use a rotating curriculum. Presently the children are at Dr. Tomorrow's Robot Repair Shop. (To find out more about ELEVATE, click here.).

How secure are our CCC Kids classrooms?
We take security very seriously at Central Community Church. We use computer based check-in procedures and we require a high-level of security in the classrooms, all for the safety of your child. Be sure to keep your security tag to ensure you are able to pick up your child(ren) in a quick, orderly fashion. (No tag = pull out the Driver's License!)

What is your goal for CCC Kids Ministry?
The goal in CCC Kids Ministry is to provide a loving and exciting environment where children can learn about God and His love using the Bible as our base. We believe that it is our job to partner with parents as they seek to raise their children to know who God is and how much He loves each of us.

How can I become a part of the CCC Kids Ministry Volunteer Team?
Pick up a volunteer packet from either check-in station, fill it out completely, turn it back in to the church and we'll meet to discuss where you want to be and what God is leading you to do. Or e-mail KIDS Ministry: angie.hand@centralcommunity.org.
